Family Devotion:
God is with me
Think about it— What do we mean when we say God is with us? How do we know He is with us if we can’t see Him? Over and over we read in the bible that God is with us and we are not alone. How do you know that God is with you? How is God with us?
Matthew 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and
they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God
with us
Joshua 1:5
No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
This Family Devotional Guide is intended to be done together, as a family. Take a few days this week together as a family to read the passages and answer the questions.
Sometime this week read the following passages together as a family. (you don’t have to do it all in one day, spread it out over the week!)
Read I Samuel 17
How did David know God was with him?
What did Saul say to show he knew that God was with David?
How do you know God is with you?
Draw a picture of how God is with you.
Read Joshua 1
Who was God speaking to?
How many times does God say He is with us?
What else did God say more than one time?
Why should we not fear what will happen?
Final thought:
One foundational truth that is very important to remember is that God is always with us. From the early prophecies telling about the birth of Jesus, “Emmanuel” is a name given to Jesus, which means ‘God is with us”. Then, through the bible we hear God telling us over and over that He is with us. If you ever find yourself in a situation that you think you are alone, read Joshua chapter 1 again and remember, he will NEVER leave us
Think of a time that you know God was with you and thank Him for that. If you can’t think of a time, then pray and ask Him to show you this week that He is with you.
Be sure to let me know how you know God is with you!
