Kid's Guide to Baptism

Talking with kids about baptism and salvation is a meaningful responsibility—and one many parents and ministry leaders want to approach with clarity, care, and confidence. These workbooks were created to help guide those conversations in a way that is biblically grounded, age-appropriate, and easy to use in both home and group settings. Whether you’re leading a class, preparing for baptisms, or supporting families in their faith journey, these resources are designed to help kids understand what it means to follow Jesus and take their next steps in faith.

Baptism is a huge milestone in the Christian Journey. As a child, understanding baptism is key in order to be baptized.

“A Kid’s Guide to Baptism” is a workbook written to help your child understand what baptism means, and reasons why they should be baptized. Your child will read through scriptures and answer some tough questions as they work through their faith and determine if they are ready to take the next step and be baptized. They will also learn how to prepare a personal testimony as they ready themselves to make a public declaration of their faith.

A while back I wrote an article on teaching kids about baptism. It is one of the most read articles I have written. Recently I thought about adding links to that page to resources that could help parents and churches teach their kids about baptism but I couldn’t really find any. I found a few picture books for younger kids, but that’s about it. So that is where A Kid’s Guide to Baptism came from — out of a desire to provide a quality resource for you to use with your kids to help them understand and prepare for baptism.

This workbook is written to be equal parts teaching tool, part devotional, and part journal. Once your child has completed the book, the journey and answers recorded in the pages become a keepsake and a reminder of a huge spiritual milestone in your child’s life.

Since A Kid’s Guide to Baptism was released it has been used thousands of times across multiple countries.  Many parents use this book to help their child prepare for baptism while many churches have adopted it as baptism class material to help ensure kids understand what baptism means.

Kid's Guide to Salvation

The biggest spirirual decision a person can make is the choice to be ‘saved’, or in other words decide to follow Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. A decision like this is not an easy one, and requires a lot of faith.

Just because it is a major spiritual choice doesn’t mean that kids can’t make that choice. “A Kid’s Guide to Salvation” is a workbook written to help your child understand biblical salvation and what it means to them. They will read through scriptures and answer tough questions as they begin their faith journey.

Just like adults, kids are on their own spiritual journey. “A Kid’s Guide to Baptism” has become a great tool to help kids prepare for baptism as well as help parents and pastors know if the kids understand what baptism is all about.

I began to get requests for follow up resources that would continue to help kids on their journey of faith. Rather than a follow up workbook, it made sense to do a ‘prequel’, and that is how “A Kid’s Guide to Salvation” was born.

At first, I thought this would be an easy task, but the more I worked on it the longer it took. I did not want this to gloss over the subject. Kids can understand deep spiritual concepts, but at the same time those concepts need to be explained at a kid level.  “A Kid’s Guide to Salvation” does that.

Being saved means we are protected from harm or even death.

When we talk about salvation, we mean we are saved from something, but not like fire or drowning.

Some would say we need to be saved from the devil. Or money. Others would say we need to be saved from ourselves.

The Bible says we need to be saved from our sins.

“A Kids Guide to Salvation” will help them understand what salvation means and why they should consider making the decision to be saved themselves.  Some kids will have a background that exposed them to the Bible and faith. For others, this book may be their first encounter with faith and truth about Jesus. No matter where they are on their journey of faith, this book can help.

What to Expect

Following the same workbook style as “A Kid’s Guide to Baptism”, this book will walk your child through Bible verses, questions, and definitions surrounding Biblical salvation.

Some questions that will be answered:

  • What is faith?

  • What is sin?

  • Why do we need to be saved from our sin?

  • What is the cost of sin?

  • Where did sin come from?

  • What is atonement?

  • What is forgiveness?

  • BIBLICAL DEFINITION OF SALVATION

Through scriptures, your child will study and learn about salvation: what it is, why it is important, and how to be saved..

  • DEVOTIONAL
  • JOURNAL

While studying sin and salvation your child will answer personal questions relating scripture to their own life.

Parts of this workbook include questions that document the personal faith journey of your child. They will record things they have learned and answer questions based on passages they read.

  • NEXT STEPS

Salvation is not the end of our spiritual life, and it is not the end of this book. As next steps, your child will learn the importance of spiritual growth, including reading their Bible, going to church, and praying.

If your child is asking questions about God, sin, or salvation, this book can help. Be sure to check out the other books in the Kid’s Guide to Christianity series: “A Kid’s Guide to Baptism” and “Prayer Pact: a 30 day prayer journal for kids”

What Others Are Saying

Parents, if you are wondering whether your child has an understanding of water baptism, and if they are ready to take the plunge, then this book is for you. As a pastor I am often asked to baptize children and Ron’s book has become my go-to resource to not only teach children about baptism but to also help me know if the child fully understands water baptism. In “A Kid’s Guide to Baptism” Ron has tackled a subject that not many have attempted to write about, and he has done an amazing job explaining baptism on a level that both children and adults will be able to understand and enjoy reading

A Kid’s Guide to Baptism fills a great need for anyone who serves children in a church setting. There are clear explanations of baptism, and will help kids think about the spiritual practice of being baptized and its importance in the life of a Christian. As soon as I saw one, I ordered a stock pile to keep on hand. There isn’t anything like it currently on the market and the ability to personalize them to your ministry is an added bonus!

Pastor

This book does a good job explaining what baptism is, but would also be something someone would keep long term because of the ability to record their journey.

Great book for our ministry. I am excited to get this into the hands of parents as a great resource to walk their kids through the gospel. This book explains salvation very well and truthfully could be used to walk anyone through salvation not just children. I’m sure we will be ordering more of these in the future as our kids ministry continues to grow.

Deciding to be baptized is an exciting decision and event for any Christian, but especially for kids. That said, baptism, what it really means, and whether you’re ready for it can be a little daunting for kids and adults. Whether you are a church looking for a resource to use with your youth or a parent trying to help your child understand baptism, Ron has laid out everything you need to understand in an easy to use format.

The first time I learned Ron was writing a baptism book for kids, I knew it would be good and helpful. I was not wrong. Ron knows children and how to take deep truth and communicate it so a child can not only understand but apply. There are very few solid books for kids on baptism and this is so solid and helpful. If you are a ministry leader this is a resource you should always have ready for parents to walk through with their children. I’m so excited to see how many children will follow Jesus and enter the waters of baptism.

This Kid’s Guide to Salvation Book is a great gift for kids and adults who are asking questions about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. It is very easy to read and understand! I ordered 50 copies and plan to give these to both children and adults who are new to understanding what it means to follow Christ. Maybe you have a child, a grandchild or even a neighbor who needs to know Jesus, then I suggest you given them this book, pray for the Lord to speak to their heart and watch Him move in their life.
