FREE Easter Small Group Lesson for kids

Are you looking for a small group lesson to do with your kids this Easter? Maybe you are a parent looking for an Easter Family Devotion. If you are either, you are in luck, because this will work for both.

This is an actual small group lesson we have used before after the large group Easter lesson. In case you think a small group won’t work in your situation, check out how we did it with not many adult leaders

If you are a parent using this as a devotional, take a little time talking about the Easter Story- death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and lead right into the small group lesson

Easter Small Group Lesson

In your group, take turns sharing things you remember about when Jesus died and rose again.

Allow for discussion, and try to give everyone a chance to share something. It is ok if things are repeated.

After a time of discussion, work together to put the following statements in the order you think they happened.

_____     Jesus was nailed to the cross

_____     Jesus was arrested when he was betrayed by Judas

_____     The tomb is empty because Jesus rose from the dead!

_____     An angel moves away the stone blocking the tomb

_____     The soldiers put a crown of thorns on Jesus’ head and make fun of him

Read Matthew 28:1-11 together then discuss

Why was Mary afraid?  (she was afraid of the angel)

Why was Jesus not in the tomb? (He rose from the dead and was alive again)

How did Jesus come alive again? (God’s power brought Jesus back to life)

What do you like best about the Easter story? (give everyone a chance to share)
