This Coming Sundae Commandment # 4
Special thanks to Wesley Edie, Family Life Pastor at Parklawn Assembly of God for sharing his 10 Commandments skit series with us.
Leader : Well what we’re talking about today is something I hope everyone here tries to put into practice every Sunday. God knew it was so important that he put it in…
Maggie: Sundae, oh ya baby! (pops her head up)
Leader: Oh, hi there Maggie! That’s right we are talking about Sunday’s.
Maggie: I love Sundaes! With tons of chocolate and sprinkles and cherry’s and…
Leader: Wait a minute! I think we are talking about two different things.
Maggie: and whipped cream and caramel and bananas; you have to have a banana! What kind of sundae are you talking about?
Leader: I’m talking about Sunday being our Sabbath or at least a day of the week being a Sabbath.
Maggie: Um, I’ve never hear of that kind of ice cream sundae. I’m willing to try it. Where’s it at?
Leader: The Sabbath is a day of rest, a day that we take a break.
Maggie: For an ice cream sundae, right?
Leader: No. Well, yeah, sure, I guess you can eat an ice cream sundae. That sure does sound like good thing to do while taking a break.
Maggie: I knew it! So the Sabbath is ice cream!
Leader: The Sabbath is about putting aside one day for the Lord, taking a break from work and from school.
Maggie: Eating ice cream! (interrupts)
Leader: Coming to church is a great way to take a break during our busy week. We remember what is most important in our life, Jesus Christ, and we worship Him.
Maggie: While eating ice cream.
Leader: Maggie stop with the ice cream!
Maggie: Ok, I’ll talk about church instead.
Leader: That sounds like a good plan to me.
Maggie: Hey Ms./Mr. _____ can we have an ice cream social at church next week?
Leader: I thought you were going to stop with the ice cream?
Maggie: I’m talking about church now. Eating ice cream in church.
Leader: Someday we may have to do that just for you Maggie. Please focus with me right now.
Maggie: OK.
Leader: God has designed us to take one day to rest every week. If we don’t do that we can have serious problems in our body, mind and of course our spirit.
Maggie: WOW!!! That’s crazy.
Leader: I think I might need one day a week to make sure I get rest from you.
Maggie: Can I have ice cream on that day?
Leader: Let’s get on with our lesson.
Maggie: Alright everyone till next time, Chow Baby!!
